The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP) works with other units throughout the campus to seek external support for faculty research, creative activity, and institutional projects that support the educational and service mission of the university. Collaboration is sought across disciplines, departments, and community partners in preparing proposals to federal, state, and private agencies.

ORSP staff assist with proposal development, proposal submission to external funding agencies, post-award support, and help to ensure that research and sponsored programs are conducted in accordance with the highest ethical and regulatory standards. Other ORSP activities include processing the faculty intramural grant awards programs and coordination of campus-wide student research initiatives and competitions.

ORSP Structure

The Office of Research and Sponsored Projects (ORSP) is led by an Associate Vice President (AVP) for Research and Sponsored Projects, with lead personnel (directors/coordinators) in each of the following support offices, units, and programs:

Office of Research Development (ORD)

The Office of Research Development (ORD) is a unit under the AVP-ORSP that assists faculty in preparing high-quality competitive proposals to external sponsors. ORD provides guidance, training, and assistance to faculty in identifying funding sources and promotes institutional programming and grant development.

Office of Grants and Contracts (OGC)

The Office of Grants and Contracts (OGC) assists with proposal preparation, review, and submission to external funding agencies; assures compliance with agency requirements; serves as the lead in the review of grant awards and the issuance, review, and negotiation of contracts, subcontracts, and related agreements.

Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP)

 The Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) oversees the post-award administration of grants and contracts awarded to the university through the CSU Fullerton Auxiliary Services CorporationOpens in new window   . Services include invoicing and grant accounting, submission of required reports (e.g, effort reporting), handling audits, and negotiation of the University’s indirect cost agreement.

Office of Research Compliance (ORC)

Research Compliance assures university-wide compliance with federal, state, local, and agency policies and regulations that involve research and creative activities, including use of human and animal subjects and policies regarding conflict of interest and responsible conduct of research.

Undergraduate Research and Opportunity Center (UROC)

The Undergraduate Research and Opportunity Center (UROC) assists in increasing faculty-led undergraduate research, scholarship, and creative work on campus. UROC student fellows progress through research or creative skills training to designing a project with a faculty mentor, culminating in contributions to their field of study.
